The (finally) Finished Corsages

Ok, so I have finally finished off all the flower corsages I started in Canada, and im pretty pleased with the results. It took me a while, mainly because im quite picky, and I needed to get the button centres just right. See what you think.....

Now I just need to finish the butterfly brooches, but they are proving to be a little more difficult to get right. I'll keep you posted!

Pretty Papers....

.....so it wasn't just cute Christmas ideas I picked up on holiday, but some fun and funky papers. Now I know I showed you some of them when I first bought them, but I have to confess.........I went back and got more.

I couldn't help it, and really not my fault when you think about it. I mean some of them were just 50c, which is about 35-40p. A bargain, don't you think?

These are my faves, all cute and quirky and I can't wait to use them.....

A Cute Christmas....

.....yes, ok, I did just use the word Christmas. Is it too early?

I don't think so, I mean I need a certain amount of time to start preparing some Christmas goodies for my shop, don't I? Anyway i've put it out there now! I can't take it back!

In my defence, these festive thoughts aren't really my fault. I blame the cute goodies in the 'Holiday Crafts' magazine I got whilst in Canada. Now I normally don't buy things like this, but this one stood out, and has some fab and simple ideas for Christmas crafts.

Take a look at these and see what you think.....

....then tuck all your Yuletide thoughts away and enjoy the rest of the summer!

Happy Sunday xx

Holiday Snapshot....

.....so it seems jet lag has set in. My energy levels are in the minus zone, and groggy isn't the word!

Yes im back on home turf, but not completely myself right now. Please bear with me. While im adjusting back to normal I thought i'd keep it simple and ease into a little 'photo blog' today. I've picked out some of my fave pics from the past 3 weeks, so sit back and enjoy (minimum reading necessary).....Normal service will be resumed shortly!

the same view a day later...
what better way to finish off the holiday......whiskey sour anyone?..

Lazy Days....

So were back in the non scary house by the lake for our final week, and this weekend has mainly been spent enjoying some much needed sunshine. Infact this picture probably sums things up more than anything else could!!

Today we did find time to pop into a flea market, which was housed in the local Curling Club. Always nice to look around these things, but it was proper tiny, although there were some rather funny, year by year photos of the Club Presidents (my fave was from the 90s - unfortunately I didn't get to snap it - but lets just say the hairstyles were magic!).

We also went to see the Tidal Bore today. This area gets some of the highest tides in the world, and at high tide a wave forms which surges up the river against the current. Its quite amazing to see. I took a few photos but it doesn't really do it justice.

This is basically what the river looked like to begin with, you can just make out the wave heading for us in the distance.

Here it comes.....

And minutes later it looked like this....

Also stopped off at a yard sale and picked up a funky, retro print skirt for $1. I don't intend to wear it, its going to be used for some corsages (infact I have already used part of it)! Couldn't help myself, I love the fabric its made of....

And while were on the subject of corsages, heres a few of the ones i've made while i've been away. There are a few butterflies i've been playing around with too. They are only the basic shapes, but the plan is to jhave a batch made up, so when I get back I can add all the finishing touches......forward thinking and all that!!!

This could be my last post from Canada, as i'll be without internet for the last few days, so if I don't catch up with you before then, I shall see you all back in the UK very soon.

Take Care xx

Catch Up....

......Ok, so I thought i'd do a quick catch up from the past few days, as i've been a bit lax on the whole blogging thing.

We've spent the last week in digby, and over the weekend they've had their annual Scallop Festival. Im not a scallop eater at all, infact im not a fish/seafood eater in general, but they have loads of other stuff going on. Unfortunately, the much anticipated firework display (the one we've been waiting a whole six years to see again) was cancelled due to the giant amount of rain that fell. Never mind, all those that get to see it next year will get double the amount. What did we do to cheer ourselves up? Go for cocktails of course.

Oh well, we got to see the parade, some cool vintage cars, and sip wine over a beautiful backdrop.

ooh...Canadian Mounties!

Not a bad view.....

Cool Vintage cars.... i'd be happy with the red one on the right!

We've also done a bit of 'revisting the scene of the crime' so to speak. Last time we we're down this part of Nova Scotia, we discovered a fab little secluded cove, with a sandy beach and the most beautiful sunsets. Luckily our last night in Digby was perfect. We got in a 'sausage sizzle' (BBQ) over a self built fire, down on the beach, and then watched this amazing view. It is one of favourite places in the world.

I feel I should also show you the place we have been staying in. It dates back to the 1800s and is filled with old, antique furniture. Now I don't like to use the word 'haunted', but lets just say it has a very strange feel about it, and there have been one or two weird goings on - namely doors moving of their own accord - but im sure its nothing hey?

Of course i've also been out buying up more fabric quarts. This time in Walmart of all places - but at $2 a piece I couldn't resist.

Its promising to be a lovely, sunny weekend. Fingers crossed anyway, im hoping to come back with some kind of suntan!

Hope you are all well.....x
