A little Fleetwood Mac

Right now im starting to compile a little playlist for the upcoming Nova Scotian adventure. I have just added some Otis Reading, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac and Arcade Fire.

Of course, while im indulging myself (in more ways than one as im sipping tea and eating chocolate), I couldn't resist a quick look at the photos we took last time we were over there, all of six years ago. This trip has been a long time in the planning, let me tell you! I think I am officially in love......its just soooo pretty!!

Sandy Cove at Sunset

Beautiful Lake Midway on Digby Neck

Digby Harbourside

Our cute little Cottage

The Digby Scallop Days Festival

A Sunset Cruise down the River in Halifax

I think you should be prepared for the holiday pic overload when I get back! You have been warned!

And does anyone have any suggestions for good hoilday songs? I would love to hear your thoughts.....

The Week in Pictures.....

Its been a busy week at work. Fortunately its been a quiet week on the homefront.

Phew!.....

Today, however, we found the energy from somewhere to have a bit of a tidy frenzy. The outcome being some super clean curtains.....thank you sunshine!! Im now ready for an evening in front of the tele, so im going to keep this fairly brief with a few snapshots from the week just gone.

Its been a week of.........

....rock eating (not had any of that since i was a child!)....

....watching a bit of Wimbledon......

......purchasing my summer holiday reading....

....sending off these goodies to that very kind A Level student.......

.....a new, and very cute, dress.......

....enjoying the sunshine in the garden....

....and of course a little time to make a few bits...

Hope you've all had a good one........xx

But This is Much More Fun......

I love Sundays.

They normally start with a well deserved lie in and a cuppa in bed. Perfect! But there are always chores to do.....boo! Today I seemed to be able to find all sorts of things to do to avoid those dreaded jobs.

A Sunday lunch curry (Mmm...), reminiscing over video footage from our last trip to Canada (now only 38 days to go till the next one!), a nice cuppa while snuggled up on the sofa, getting crafty with fabric, and of course a trip to see Dad.

The crafty bit has resulted in some more padded hanging hearts. I was hoping to devote some time last week to this little project, but you know how it is sometimes. Still I am pleased with results.

 Particularly this one....

I adore the heart fabric which I picked up from the Eternal Maker in Chichester.

I do like this red number too........but I think its got more of a festive feel.

I also made this cute butterfly brooch. During the week I was contacted by a College student who asked if she could use my work as a reference for her A Level project........how weird! But flattering. She is basing her project on butterflies, so I made her this.......

Im now ready to settle down for the evening and not think about the ever approaching 'monday morning'! But I thought I'd quickly share with you a couple of my loves of the day.

Firstly, and you might think this is a bit strange......., is my glue gun! Yes, I know. But I really don't know how I've gone so many years without one! Its a fab thing, and makes so many jobs easier, and able to be done in half the time!

Love it!

Also, today has been the first outing for my little antique flower brooch. I love the delicate work that has gone into the petals and think it looks great against a black top.

Beautiful!

What have you been up to?.......

Weekend Things

Its been a weekend of two halves weather wise. Yesterday was beautiful, in the most part, but today has been a bit of a wash out, and cold and windy. Although not quite as bad as Montreal in Canada it seems, where the grand Prix has been stopped because of the rain pelting down. It doesn't look like its about to start any time soon, so i've taken up my place at the pc with hot cuppa.

It feels like winter again. I don't like it.

Although I have the strong urge to snuggle up on the sofa under a warm blanket, with the fire on, watching an old movie..........I think I have my evening planned!

On Saturday Mr T left me to my own devises. I had quite a lazy morning, but managed to update my blog a bit, and im now happy with the way it all looks (me? fussy?).

After a quick tidy up I treated myself to a very classy lunch. A fishfinger wrap. But theres nothing wrong with that, is there?

I decided to try making something new in the afternoon, and tried my hand at stitching some padded hanging hearts. I know they're quite easy to make, but im still finding my feet with my sewing machine, so its good practice for me. This is my first attempt and im quite pleased with it. Im hoping to make some more this week for my Etsy and Folksy shops. But this one has found a home already.

My parents came round today for lunch. I decided to make a nice, light, summery pudding, and opted for a strawberry flan. Theres something really wonderful about the fruity smell as you're making jelly. But I have to say, and you may think im a bit weird, but I love to eat it when its still in cube form........like this.......

Is that strange? Mr T thinks it is. But there was enough left to make the flan, and it was delicious.

For dinner we turned to Jamie Oliver, and made his Beer Butt chicken with Dirty Rice. Its from his Jamies America recipe book, and comes highly recommended from us all. I think the name says it all really, but just incase your a bit unsure, I couldn't resist taking a little pic of it......

And what sunday afternoon would be complete without a slice of cake? Well it was Dads birthday after all.

Coffee cake with a honeycomb topping.......YUM!

How have your weekends been?

Cotton Anniversary

Its was mine and Mr Ts 2nd Wedding Anniversary on monday. Really, where has the time gone?? The 2nd Anniversary is cotton, and we had fun 'making' each other gifts. I presented him with a handmade card and little handmade heart magnet, made out of some of my very own handwoven cotton fabric. It has taken up pride of place on the kitchen fridge!

Mr T did very well. He made me this gorgeous card, which he designed and cut out himself! Im really into cut outs like this and I love it! Isn't he talented!

Not only that, but he bought me this lovely cotton brooch pillow from Elizabeth Woods at Dar Msallema. How perfect for my ever growing collection of brooches. I am very lucky! Please check out her fab Etsy Shop, which is packed with lots of lovely textile things.

Think i'll treat hubby to putting his feet up tonight while I rustle up dinner!

A Weekend in The Cotswolds

So it was back to reality, and back to work today. Boo!........ But what a wonderfully peaceful, relaxing, laughter filled and fun weekend we had. A great way to celebrate us all turning the big 3 0. The Cotswolds is beautiful and despite having a heavy downpour or two, we did enjoy some glorious sunshine as well. We stayed in an ultra modern house on a lake, with beautiful views and scenery.

I could well get used to waking up to this every morning!

We stayed in the house second from the right.

But when the rain came we certainly knew about it!

Most of the weekend was spent relaxing, playing games, making use of the on site spa, and bbq-ing by the lake with a cheeky cider.

But on the Sunday we took a quick trip into Cirencester, which is lovely and which has a very quaint sweetshop called Henleys, where I picked up some yummy Honeycomb and some Baileys fudge......yes you could say I have a huge sweet tooth!

And then on for a delicious sunday pub lunch where I had the best fish & chips ever! The Bell at Sapperton is a very traditional English Country Pub, and I would highly recommend a visit if you find yourself that way.

And what birthday celebrations would be complete without some gooey birthday cake!

A fab time had by all! Hope you all enjoyed your weekends....x

I am taking the camera so be prepared for photos on monday! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend......xx
