Sunday Afternoon

Today has been a fairly relaxed day, making gift tags and a bit of clearing out. I have also recovered my loom, which had disappeared under a veil of dust (I really don't know how that happened, I always carry my duster around!). Still it made me think that its about time I got back to weaving again, so I pulled out some old samples from uni days in the hope of finding that woven inspiration I need. I particularly like the natural silk samples I wove for my final project, the original idea coming from the uniform structure of modern buildings.

This is my loom today and im determined to finish this piece....

Good Old Romance

With Valentines Day in mind I have been working hard this week on a set of heart inspired cards. Taking my love of fabric and paper I have created one set of stitched heart cards, decorated with beads and sequins, and one set of layered paper heart cards.

I particularly like the purple stitched heart and am playing with the idea of making a series of fabric hanging hearts based on this. I will keep you posted.

Inspiration....

.....from books.

I love looking through books to find inspiration for pieces and new ideas. This Christmas I was very lucky and received some beautiful new books, which I have been scanning through this weekend. I am now armed with lots of things I want to make on my sewing machine, and some creative ideas for my cards. All I need now is a few 8 day weeks so I can fit it all in...

Out with the Old...

So the new year has arrived, and i've been feeling all 'out with the old, in with the new'. There has been lots of clearing out, tidying up and making room for all the new bits and pieces acquired over the Christmas period, and now I feel ready to face the year ahead. I have set myself some goals this year, and am determined to be good (although I think I had the same thoughts this time last year!!).

I have, however, been working on some new card designs for 2011. Have a sneak peek......there will be more to come, and they will be available on Etsy and Folksy soon.
